Job Title: Luminary Teaching Assistant

Based at: 47 Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8AJ

Reports to: Training Coordinator

Hours: 6 hours per week: 9am-3pm on Monday 

Pay: £11.05 per hour, London Living Wage.


The Role

  • To assist with the Luminary Employability and Independence Training Programmes for women with experience of multiple disadvantages including Gender Based Violence and homelessness, adverse mental health &/or criminal activity, as they develop skills for the working world.
  • Assisting the Luminary training team to provide an excellent Employability and Independence Programme to support trainees in developing skills for the working world: offering a high standard of learning and professionalism in the training room and the best possible trainee learning journey
  • Assisting the Luminary training team to provide an excellent Employability and Independence Programme to support trainees in developing skills for the working world.
  • To support women as they learn, helping to guide them to become employable bakers and more independent over the first 12 months of the two year programme.
  • Establishing a positive rapport with our trainees, enabling them to invite help and support during their learning with us. Contributing to the safety and cleanliness of our learning environment.
  • Training for this role will be provided where necessary


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Helping the Tutors/facilitators/support workers to manage behaviour & dynamics of the training group, maintaining a professional, focussed and non-judgemental learning environment at all times, with an end goal of employability for all trainees
  • Supporting trainees with reading and writing skills where required
  • Managing and providing breakfast, coffee and snacks for all trainees in the training room
  • Fostering an environment of community and support at all times and encouraging this amongst the women on the programme, investing in them as whole individuals
  • Setting up & packing down the training room, ensuring each workstation is suitably equipped.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment and Food Safety and Hygiene standards are high
  • Assisting with relevant Luminary events in the evening occasionally throughout the year e.g graduation.  
  • Fulfilling any appropriate roles the training coordinator assigns, i.e: assisting with trainee recruitment
  • Cleaning down the training room to a high standard
  • Being an example & role model to trainees. Offering peer support, where invited. 
  • Cleaning and restocking trainee toilets once per week
  • Working closely with Luminary’s Training coordinator to ensure targets are met and trainees are getting the best support and opportunities possible
  • Championing our trainees at all time
